Stepping Up Summit Held
Cleveland: The annual Cuyahoga County Stepping Up Summit took place on Thursday, October 18, at the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation on East 55th Street.
More than 75 participants attended the day-long summit and were able to hear from the Stepping Up task-force sub-committee co-chairs and expert speakers while engaging in meaningful discussion.
The Stepping Up initiative launched nationally in 2015 with a goal of reducing the number of people living with mental illness in jails. The Cuyahoga County Stepping Up task-force continues the development of local strategic action planning for the top priorities.
Among the topics presented at the summit were reducing the number of people with mental illness in jail, pretrial and jail psychiatric services, schizophrenia treatment in jail, housing, and strategies for defendants to return home.
Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Court Chair Judge Hollie Gallagher opened the summit on behalf of her Stepping Up co-chairs Robert Triozzi, Cuyahoga County Law Director, and Scott Osiecki, CEO of the ADAMHS Board of Cuyahoga County.
