Judge Antonio S. Nicholson Takes Office

Judge Antonio S. Nicholson has been sworn-in to the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, General Division.
Nicholson, of Solon, assumed office on July 14, 2025, and takes over the seat formerly held by Judge Deena Calabrese, who was elected to the Eighth District Court of Appeals. He will serve the remainder of the unfished term and will need to run for election in November to retain the seat.
Nicholson began his law career in private practice in 2014. In 2015 he served as an assistant public defender for the Cuyahoga County Public Defender’s Office. In 2024, he joined the Lake County Public Defender’s Office as an assistant public defender in the felony division.
In 2009, Nicholson received a bachelor’s degree in criminology and sociology from Cleveland State University. He received his juris doctorate from Charlotte School of Law.
