Judges Inducted Into CSU/LAW HOF

Judge Cassandra Collier-Williams and Judge William T. McGinty were inducted into the Cleveland State University Law Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Friday, November 1, 2024.

In 2012, Judge Collier-Williams (’90) became the second African American (female or male) to be elected to the Court of Common Pleas, General Division, without first being appointed by the Governor, or having served on another judicial bench. Judge Collier-Williams is one of four judges who maintain a Commercial law docket.

Judge McGinty (‘74) was elected to the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court General Division in 2019 and is currently serving his last year on the bench. In 2023, Judge McGinty launched, and currently presides over, Helping Others Prosper Everyday (H.O.P.E) Court, a high-risk drug court that helps to assist and inspire individuals to overcome addiction and change their lives.

The CSU|LAW Hall of Fame was established in 2017 to honor the outstanding contributions to the success and prestige of the law school by distinguished alumni, faculty, staff, friends and community leaders.

Also honored was the late Judge Nancy R. McDonnell (’85), who served as the first female Administrative and Presiding Judge of the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court General Division. Judge McDonnell served nearly 25 years on the bench before passing away in 2021.

Former Common Pleas Court General Division Judge Timothy McMonagle (’74) was inducted as a retired member of the Ohio Court of Appeals, 8th District. Judge McMonagle served on the General Division Bench for six years until leaving for the Court of Appeals in 2011.
