Four Judges Retire

Four Judges Retire

Cleveland:  Four Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court General Division Judges retired in early January with more than 100 years of combined community service.

Judge Janet R. Burnside, Judge Carolyn B. Friedland, Judge Stuart A. Friedman and Judge Michael E. Jackson were unable to seek re-election because Ohio law does not allow Judges to run for office after the age of 70.

Judge Burnside has been on the Bench since 1991, Judge Friedland since 1989, Judge Friedman since 1987 and Judge Jackson since 2013.

All four recently sat down for interviews that are featured in the Court’s “On The Record” podcast, and can be streamed at https://www.buzzsprout.com/99872.

In the interviews, the judges looked back on their legal careers, their decisions to run for a seat on the bench, and their most memorable experiences on the Bench.

The Court wishes Judge Burnside, Judge Friedland, Judge Friedman, and Judge Jackson the very best in their well-earned retirements!

In addition to the retiring jurists, the Court has said good-bye to Justice Michael P. Donnelly, who was elected to the Ohio Supreme Court and will begam serving January 2.
