COVID Vaccinations For Staff
To encourage COVID-19 vaccinations for Court employees, the four divisions of the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court are offering staff members a personal day if they provide proof of vaccination.
The decision was made jointly by the Administrative Judges for each division; Judge Brendan J. Sheehan of the General Division, Judge Leslie Ann Celebrezze of the Domestic Relations Court, Judge Thomas O’Malley of the Juvenile Court, and Presiding Judge Anthony Russo of the Probate Court.
“To protect all of the people we serve, and the people working in or conducting business in the courthouse or ancillary buildings, the Courts strongly encourage staff to receive a COVID-19 vaccination,” says Judge Sheehan, who is also the Presiding Judge of the four divisions.
The Courts will provide the personal day in 2021 to all employees who receive both shots of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccinations, or the single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccination. This benefit extends to staff who have already been vaccinated and to staff who obtain their vaccination(s) by July 9th.
“I want to thank Judge Anthony Russo for bringing this idea to the Administrative Judges,” adds Judge Sheehan. “This is another example of thinking outside the box to address the unique safety challenges of the pandemic.”
Employees must provide copies of their vaccination cards to be eligible for the personal day, and requests to use the personal day will be granted contingent upon operational needs. The personal day must be taken by December 17, 2021.
