Court Welcomes Judge J. Philip Calabrese

Cleveland:  Judge J. Philip Calabrese has been sworn in to the Bench of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, General Division.

 

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine appointed Calabrese to serve the remainder of the unexpired term of Judge Pamela A. Barker, who was named to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. The term ends on January 2, 2021.

 

Judge Calabrese received his bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, and law degree from Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  He was also a Fulbright Scholar at the American School of Classical Studies in Athens, Greece.

 

Judge Calabrese was most recently a partner at Porter Wright Morris & Arthur in Cleveland, and serves as an adjunct professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He served as a clerk to Judge Alice Batchelder in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. 

 

Judge Calabrese served on several community and advisory boards, including those for the Ohio Innocence Project and the Cleveland Orchestra.

 

Judge Calabrese is in courtroom 21-D.
